It is VERY cold out. The temperatures have dropped unbelievably fast. As of this minute it’s 14 degrees Fahrenheit with a wind chill that makes it feel like -2. For my Canadian friends that is -10 Celsius with a wind chill of -18, but I’m sure you’re feeling it too!
I was so very thankful my car started this morning without any problem. It’s the first winter I’ve had my new-used car, and you never know!
As I sat shivering and wishing for a hot tush, I contemplated the unfairness of not being flexible enough to reach the gas and brake from the warm and working heated passenger seat.
On the way home from dropping my son at school, with the blowing heat beginning to warm the car, I was thankful for the relief from the cold. I began to consider what it must be like for those without respite from these frigid temperatures. What if I didn’t have a car with heat? What if I couldn’t afford to pay my gas bill? What if I didn’t have a roof over my head?
So instead of wasting today’s wish on the luxury of a heated seat, I’m sending wishes of warmth for those who truly need it.
Donate coats, hats, mittens and dollars to organizations such as Operation Kid Equip and the Salvation Army. We can warm others from the outside-in and ourselves from the inside-out.
